Finished Row Along Quilt

So I was getting ready to drive to Michigan for a visit with my new niece and my family, then the strep took me down.  I had a lot of allergy stuff happening then I got strep!  I was on the sofa for days.  So we cancelled our road-trip, but I did have time to sit on the sofa working on binding.  And that is how my row along quilt finally got finished!
I love this quilt.  I have no place to put it, but I still love it.

Since I'm home and all I made my first BOM block last night.  This project is exciting!  I'm hoping to get the last two Virtual Quilting Bee blocks made this afternoon.  I'm not sure how I got behind again.

I started sewing half square triangles for a rainbow pinwheel.
Otherwise...
I've been farting around in the garden....

..and playing with my new rotary cutters!

I should finish a couple more quilts.....

Before I Get Outta Town

Before you go out of town do you take note of the status of everything?  I always do.  While doing this recently since I'll be gone for a week I found I really need to start getting crap done.
I received my BOM kit and the first block!  I am so excited!  I need to also do the most recent block in Amy's Virtual Quilting Bee.
I have FOUR quilts just needing binding.  If I could just get into the right mode I could really bang a lot of stuff out.  It feels pretty lame to be this close to having four more quilts finished!
My Cuzco project is almost an assembled top.  Just a few more seams.
My navy and orange project is just in need of borders.  I have them cut and everything.  Dang-it.
My Happy Go Lucky project needs borders too....and backing and quilting and binding..... I'm thinking I would love to do the border in this print, which it my favorite in the line.

I have two days before I leave.  If I can get the Cuzco top done I'll be pleased.  If the borders find their way onto the blue/orange quilt I'll be really happy!

It's Like a Bag of Doritos.

You know when you behave, and you go weeks and weeks just buying your organic produce and the real  foods for your recipes.... then after a few months you cave, you buy a bag of Doritos.  You bring them home and because you've been deprived for so dang long,  you and your family eat the whole bag in less than two days.... you know how that happens????
Fabric buying is like that for me.  So there I was looking at the Black Hills Quilt Show.... then there were the vendors.... So Miranda, Monster and I go cruise the merchandise.  "Lets just take a look-see."
Started innocently enough.  Then I'm whipping out my MasterCard and Miranda and I are talking about intercepting the mail......  Our husbands don't need to see the bill.
I found some super cute Beeswax.......In the shape of a thimble and a hive.... come on!  That's so cute!

And you know how I've been collecting little snips.  Well, those shops sure did bring some cute ones!

Then there was the fabric...... Oh the fabric.

Innocently enough I was looking for this charm pack...... FOUND IT!

On a whim last night I started sewing up my Cuzco charm pack into disappearing nine-patch blocks... I wanted another charm pack so I could make the quilt a bit bigger.
I also needed one red fat quarter for my rainbow swap.... ahem..... the other three I just needed.  Ya know what I mean?
Some cute things for I-spy collecting.
Ahem.  Some layer cakes of this pretty Fig Tree Quilts fabric!  Just two.

Well then there were five yard bundles... for a bargain!  So I went to get one..

But it was so hard to decide.
So I may or may-not have bought three bundles.
I sure am huffing a lot as I'm writing this post.  Do I have a good reason for buying FOUR patterns?  No.  Should I need one?  Heck NO.  I hardly ever buy patterns.  I've been waiting for my love for these to fade and it hasn't so I bought them.

And I bought a kit.  Okay?!

So I went a little crazy. That's why I should buy fabric more often at a reasonable rate so I don't screw the pooch so badly.  I'm going to pet the fabric as I put everything away before the Hubs gets home.   Lets not talk about this again K?

Back to Patchwork

 Four quilts ready for binding.
I'm working on patchwork instead.  I wouldn't want to get those quilts finally finished.  Nope.  Still avoiding that.

Progress and Patterns

I have been getting those tops taken care of!  I have three quilts ready for binding now, and one quilt literally in my machine halfway quilted.  To be honest a lot of my quilting time has been stolen lately because I've been doing stuff in the yard.  My hubby nearly cut his finger off a couple weekends ago so he has been a hand down and we have SO much work to do that I've been doing the labor.  Things hurt. I'm too soft for this stuff but its been happening.  And I have a farmer's tan.

Recently during a rainy spell I was allowed to stay inside and fart around so I started writing patterns for a rainbow quilt along I'm hosting with my Facebook quilt friends.  This will be our.....fifth quilt along!  We started about a year ago....I just love this group.

We are swapping rainbow fabrics- each of our eight girls are purchasing fabrics in one color... cutting them up, then sending them to me to divvy up and mail back out.   I wrote three patterns for the swap, but I'll just be hosting the chevron quilt along... the pinwheels translate easily enough... and any other lady that wants to use her rainbow squares for something else is welcome to.... I just get sick of the math.
My local quilt friends and I went shopping last week to get started on our rainbow shopping.  We went to The Bakery Fabrics.... which is about an hour away, but always worth the drive.
I may or may-not have picked up these little packs... Not sure what I'll do with them yet... I just wanted to play around with them.
Sewing night was super fun as I got my rainbow squares cut....while enjoying a root-beer float!

So I'm going to get the quilting on my row along finished up while I wait for these rainbow squares to come trickling in.

Now that I laid the pathway in the backyard maybe I can be less of a landscaper and go back to cooking cleaning and quilting.

Collecting Tops

This happens to me a few times a year.  Somehow I end up with a STACK of finished tops needing to be basted and quilted.  Why is it this way?  Sometimes I think I'm only motivated to work on patchwork.  Its silly.  Most likely because basting requires the kitchen floor to be mopped.  We've had this talk before.
The Scrappy Trip Along- from January- I JUST bought the backing for this quilt, so maybe I will get it basted and quilted soon.
My Row Along- No backing yet... not sure what kind of fabric I would like for the back.
My Square Dance quilt- I pieced a backing a couple weeks ago- I should just baste the dang thing.
My Happy Go Lucky quilt top I finished last night.  Its kinda large- a double.  I want to order yardage from the Happy Go Lucky line for the backing.  I'll have to budget my allowance though so it might take awhile.

In other news I'm ready to share the baby quilts I finished recently.

Haley Baby Quilt
Becker Baby Quilt

Both nieces are due in the beginning of June.  I cannot wait to meet them!  And I really loved playing around with this Honey Honey charm pack.  Getting two quilts from one pack was pretty much awesome.  I love the simplicity of these quilts and they are feminine without being 'baby'.  Ya know?

So I'll stay in touch.  You can pretty much assume if you haven't heard from me I'm probably procrastinating..... and don't want to talk about it.
