Pinwheels

Is there a better quilt to finish up midway through summer?  I doubt it.  These pinwheels from my rainbow swap fabrics are so bright and fun.  And when I look at it I see all of my quilty friends and the fabrics they picked.
For my backing I chose a wild(for me) print from the HOLO.  I love this print, and I think its perfectly suited for the bright top.  The binding was pretty tricky and I ended up going with a tiny black dot.  Quilted in the ditch, which I don't do very often anymore, but love it here.

This quilter is pretty pleased with her perky pinwheels.

Spring Square Dance

 Finished!
This is a 10th Anniversary gift that is a little late.  I don't make wedding quilts because of the divorce rate..... so you'd think this being only my second 10th anniversary gift I could get it done on time.  Not so.  Both anniversary quilts have been gifted late.
Maybe I should just call them 10 1/2 year anniversary quilt gifts.... Yep.  I'm a problem solver.
Feels great to have another quilt finished and off my to do list.

Finished Scrappy Trip Along

I finished a quilt!  Woot woot!

The top was put together in January.  Six months to baste, quilt, and bind it is pretty sad. I had a tough time deciding on a backing.  I went with a reproduction for the back... and Kona Old Green for the binding.

But I'm pleased that it is done.  Its going to live with the Hub's nieces.

Changing subjects.  The other day I went to the HoLo to search for backings for a couple of those tops I have waiting now.  With sales and coupons I bought the scrappy trip's binding, the country square dance binding, backings and binding for both the Cuzco quilt and the rainbow pinwheels.... I spent the money my grandpa gave me for my birthday and ten bucks of my allowance.  It was wonderful!  So now I have the binding waiting in the living room on the square dance.  I hope to piece the two backing today and get basting soon!
I've mentioned a few times, the group of friends that quilt along with me on Facebook.  We've made a star quilt, dresdens, log cabin, the square quilt, and right now we are working on chevrons.  We always start with a pattern and everyone makes it their own.  I wanted to try something different and fun, so I asked five of my friends to trust me and agree to a challenge. I sent everyone a bundle of fabric.  Ten fat quarters and a hunk of a tan solid.  I also included a bag of fun stuff to reward them for their bravery.  Basically I told them they can use any pattern they like.  I'm excited to see how the same fabrics translate to different patterns and quilts.

I will be participating in the quilt along also.  I am excited and itching to get started.  But.....I won't be starting until I have some of my wips finished.  I want to get the square dance, rainbow, Cuzco and tiger squares quilts finished before I begin.  That's a motivator for sure!  So since I have everything I need, and its supposed to be a rainy few days I hope to make some real progress! I'll keep you posted!

Banging Them Out

Since I realized I have SOOOOooooo many projects I started to get a move on yesterday.
I put the borders on my navy and orange square.
It was a bit breezy out could you tell?

I need to decide or find a backing for this quilt.  My grandpa sent me some birthday moola, so maybe I can swing it this month.

I put together my July BOM
Now there are two!  This project is set aside for a month.

AND I took care of the three latest blocks for the Virtual Quilting Bee.  Now I have ten of these!  I believe there will be a total of 16.
I have two weeks until the next block so I've set it aside.
So now I'm heading back to my rainbow pinwheels.  If I could get a good stretch of time I think these would be fast. Maybe this afternoon if it really storms as the forecast claims.

Finished Log Cabin

Finally I have finished my Log Cabin.  I love this quilt.  I love the colors.  I love the layout.   It is a quilt that I made just because, and it makes me happy.
I am sure this one will be near my sofa always....

Despite the pleasure of finishing a quilt, I was just organizing quilt photos and came to realize I have a TON of projects going.  Like a scary amount.  Here is a rough list.....

my scrappy trip along- just needs binding
the country square dance- just needs binding
my happy go lucky- top is sewn
my navy and orange square dance- needs borders
my Cuzco disappearing nine-patch- top is sewn, can't decide on borders.
my rainbow pinwheels- I'm thick into the patchwork
a marmalade charm pack along quilt- still in early patchwork
my plum quilt- still assembling blocks
the virtual quilting bee- I'm a couple of weeks behind
my BOM- the second block just arrived today
a valentine's wall hanging- top sewn- needs borders though
buttercup dresden wall hanging- needs quilting and or binding(I can't remember)
some random dresdens sewn and waiting
....and a stack of fat quarters that need to be started sometime and finished by the end of the year.....

That's fourteen active quilts.  It's a bit much, even for me.  Maybe I should consider sending the boys and dogs camping for a weekend so I can make some progress.... Gosh I'm feeling a little overwhelmed.

Send a Lifeboat!  I'm drowning!
