Technically

This is my first finished quilt of the year! Its just a panel i found at Fabric City. Isn't it too cute?
The backing was just some leftovers I had.
I have lots of other projects going on.I just need a decent stretch of time to work on them, or you know electricity, since ours has been going in and out the past few days.

The monster loves it!

I know I know

My husband has been reminding me all day of just how lucky I am. Really like several times an hour he says "you know how lucky you are?!" He let me buy this sewing cabinet today. It was on sale because the rodeo is in town. Seriously. The stock show is in town and most businesses have big sales going on. I'm new so I don't totally get it, but right now you can save 500 bucks on a sewing cabinet or 8k on a dodge truck(not that we bought a truck, but I thought that was a large discount just because the rodeo was in town).

The closed cabinet is what I was hoping for, since I am sharing a space with my dining room. And when you stretch it out.... its really nice!

I like the drawers to the left, and there is room for my sewing box, and a ton of other junk.
I have to wait 3 weeks for my table insert to arrive, but I think using all the way up will be just fine for now.

Thank you rodeo for coming to town. I greatly appreciate it. Also we attended the bull riding last night and it was very entertaining. I love Rapid City... have I mentioned that already???

January Wall Hanging

Well, with only 2 wall hangings left to create before my 12 months are finished, I really wanted to get the January quilt going. I don't want to be working on it in June. There is no real reason to rush, even if I do get it done within the 6 final days of the month, we still haven't found the rod hanging thingers. So this snow lady won't be hung up until next year. Oh well. Atleast I'm not quitting the 12 months of wall hangings challenge I issued to myself last year. Now on to February, and of course I will work on quilting this one too....oh yeah, and I should finish quilting December's quilt ahem.....uh yep.
I sound like a slacker, but when I decided to do the 12 months of wall hangings I had no clue we would be moving. So I'm going to cut myself some slack.

Dining Room Quilting Now

In New Mexico I had my sewing set up in the guest room. When company came it took a few hours to get the room decent. But here that just isn't possible, so I am now a dining room quilter.

This is how it looks from the kitchen sink. Not too cramped or funky.

And the view out that window looks west to the Black Hills.

Not too shabby eh?

Tick Tick Tick

I only managed a few moving in tasks today. I'm to the junk that needs to find a place to live, but I would rather just throw it in the trash.
So I took a break and sat at the Juki for a couple hours after supper. Round 9 of QRBC has started, the ticker tape round. I wanted to start this so bad. And I'm glad I did. I got my sandwiches made and one quadrant done.

Here is the backing. All of the fabric is from Hancock. I love it but I think I might give this one away.....

I'm Baaaaaaaack. sorta

Here is my little glimmer of light at the end of my moving tunnel. This place is still a mess. I have a sizable stack of boxes still waiting for me. But here is where my sewing area will be. I think a real sewing table might be in the works. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

These cubes have scraps in them. I heart this!
(they didn't have the normal green cube, so I had to get the kid version)

And lookie here! This is all of my stash. The bottom shelf is large pieces I have bought for backings. and the rest are 1/4 yard hunks or larger. Not too horrible right!!! I've never seen it all in one place.
I doubt there will be any sewing this week though.

There are still spots around my house that look like this....

..and this!
I will be ranting about my ruined Kona white bolt and warm and natural batting roll in my next blog. If you don't enjoy whining you might want to skip it.

Postage Stamp and Ticker Tape

I have been exploring the local quilt shops in Rapid City! They are all fantastic!! I've hit the quilt shop jackpot here! I picked up a jelly roll for PSiquilt's postage stamp quilt along.
And I picked up some cuts at Hancock Fabrics for Round 9 of ORBC QA. The ticker tape quilt. the kona yellow looks cream in the picture, but its really a yellow.
We are still living in a hotel, but I think things will be a little calmer this week. SO hopefully I can get some quilt therapy in.
