Thistles and Deadlines

Last weekend I got my thistles sewn for my Fancy Forest!

Then, with just my fireflies left, I couldn't resist laying my blocks out!

But I need to focus on the last of my Christmas sewing.
I finally bought the fourth border fabric for this quilt.
I just need to get motivated!
I have the backing and binding too, so no more excuses!
It might be time to turn on Christmas music.
After this project is done I have the Farm Fun animals to make for my nephew.
And of course, I just added a new project to my list.  So I need to get a move on!

Luckily my neighbor brought us chocolate covered coffee beans from Hawaii... I'll ration them for Christmas sewing!

So Many New Things

When I last checked in I had no idea what was about to happen... I thought I was just sewing fancy forest animals in my little corner of the world.....

And I was.

Then one day I whipped up a zippy pouch for my bottles of essential oils.
Then my sister asked if I wanted to make a few to sell at an event she was having at her house in the beginning of November.  I was like sure.....

So I started sewing up oil pouches, then I was like I can make regular zipper pouches too....  Then I was like maybe I should make some flannel blankets too.

So I spent a week in mass production mode....seriously.... my husband was cooking dinner.
He made pot roast, it was delicious.

So I was Instagram-ing this sewing stuff, and sometimes I accidentally click the thing that posts it to my Facebook too.  And people I know on FB started buying the things!

So I started using my old abandoned Etsy shop to make it easy for them to pay, and then like.... I started listing things....

Then I'm getting orders, and going to the post office a lot to mail orders from my shop!

So I spent another week sewing more of the things so I could have some to send to my sister's event.....
And I printed tags, and business cards, and the whole nine yards.....

So, I thought my Sunny Spot Quilts table should probably have an actual quilt for sale.

So I spend an extreme amount of time trying to cut my enormousness stash of I-spy fabrics.

I was frantic, but I managed to get one quilt finished in time to ship to my sister's for her event, which is this weekend.

The event is tomorrow, and I'm nervous she will have to mail all my stock back to me because it doesn't sell...
But until I find out what a flop it is, I'm trying to be brave.

I'm going back to fancy forest sewing again.

A WIP Before the Forest

Before I started the Fancy Forest I started this project.
I had about a week and was hoping to get the top done.

I got close.
It needs one more border.
But I think it will keep until the Fancy Forest heads to the long arm.
It's a Christmas gift though, so it can't wait too long.

I think I need to make me one of these though!

Stocking Up

One of my favorite shops was advertising a sale last week.  I could hardly wait for Saturday to arrive, I nearly cancelled school on Thursday so I could go earlier.

But of course, the fabric was still there on Saturday when Miranda, her little girl, and I went to Belle Fourche.
I had a list.

I bought backing and bindings for three of my Bonnie and Camille projects.
Handmade, Little Ruby, and my Vintage Modern quilts..... Since Vintage Modern is obviously not in print still, and I'm not going to obsess about hunting it down, I went with the pink large scale for the backing, and the grey/aqua print from the Miss Kate line for the binding.

I bought a fat quarter bundle of Handmade.  Picked up a charm pack of Little Ruby to add to the two I had.  Couldn't resist the Mon Ami charm pack. And I found two Gooseberry charm packs.  I sure love that line.  I grabbed some Juniper Berry mini charms for fun.

I couldn't resist some fun I-spy prints.

I also scored a Farm Fun panel.

So the big decision was to get this Passports print for my Fancy Forest backing.
I know it isn't animal-y at all.... but the shades of blue and that bright green compliment my fabrics.... plus it was just fun.

Especially since we have been to Toyko so many times!

Us at the Meiji Shrine.

A pic of my sister Jackie when I took her to Asakusa.

Me and the Monster at the top of Tokyo Tower.

Us at the Imperial Palace.

So, it'll be a special backing for a special quilt!

My First Week of Fancy Forest-ing

Last Friday night, after possibly too much hard cider, I started my Fancy Forest.
Cutting was way easier that I had anticipated.

I got my foxes done last weekend.

My bunnies too.

I spent this past week ( a busy week by the way) working slowly in stolen moments on my owls.
I finished them up yesterday.

So in my first week, I have three animals sewn.
I am having so much fun!

I started on my hedgehogs, but again too much hard cider....
So maybe tonight after dinner is done I can get back to work.

Baby Hourglass Quilt

A friend of mine is expecting a new baby on Christmas day... but I got my little gift for him/her to the expectant mom before Halloween.

You know I dislike gender neutral quilts right?  Well, I do.

I found this fun zig-zag print at my LQS and decided to use it as my starting off point.
I think this is my favorite neutral baby quilt that I have ever made.
Which isn't saying much, cause I really try to avoid them!

But I think this one is sweet, and I hope her sweet new baby will love it up.

Lil Red Butterflies

Another finished Christmas gift.
I hope my niece likes this one.
