Deadline update

Eighteen days left until the end of the year.   So far on my six quilt to do list....

I made the doll quilt on my list.  I was watching a cheesy Christmas movie and just started cutting and finished it before the credits rolled.   I hope this little quilt will tuck baby dolls in for years.
FINISHED- *Big and Bright*-*Wonky Nine-Patch*-*Ruby Bowties*-*Doll Quilt*
Still to do- HST barn raising PLUS...
a baby quilt.
I wasn't too excited about adding another project onto this list, but I managed to get the top pieced last night so I think I'll be able to manage.
Its a Christmas gift and needs to be done in time to ship.
Maybe I can get that done tomorrow while the Monster is at preschool.
It just stinks that I went from having five out of six done... to five out of seven.
I still think I can do this!

Ruby Bowties

I finished this pretty quilt yesterday morning.  I was trying to stay calm before I went to have the rest of my root canal done and a crown build up.... So stitching the last of the binding on this quilt helped.
I just love these fabrics.  I love the fabric designers of this Ruby line... and all of their other lines.  Marmalade should arrive in my mailbox this week!
Its nice to have another wip finished!  I really love that I'm getting these pretty quilts finished up.  I think I might just get that fresh start I was hoping for in the new year!  I'll post my progress on my deadline soon. ( I think I said that last time we talked)

A Small Finish...or Four

I made FOUR tote bags last Friday.  I meant to make one.  Then I decided to finish this bag... after that I decided to see if I could get three bags out of the fabric I bought for the one bag... I did, because I bought the fabric on impulse so I overbought.  I can't share photos of the three bags because they are gifts... Dang it they are cute though!  If you follow me in IG you can see them there ;)

However I am here to show off this old UFO.  I started this bag in June I believe... possible May.  I wanted a large tote for the Monster to pack toys in when we went to Michigan to visit for three weeks.... I didn't finish it in time obviously... But I'm sure this bag will find plenty of uses. The Monster saw I was going to take photos and insisted he model the bag for me.  He did a great job.... I think he was taking it seriously.

I seriously love this bag.  Finding cute fabrics that will work for a boy sewing project isn't always easy, but these fabrics are fun.

I'll post about my progress on my deadline projects soon-ish. I have 21 days left!

Wonky Nine-Patch

Finished! I am so happy to get another UFO off my list!
I almost threw this quilt out several times.  It just annoyed me.  I like the fabrics but I couldn't decide on a layout.  Help from quilt friends saved this one from the trash by deciding to put them on point.  Sometimes you just need someone else to weigh in.  I'm happy it is a warm pretty quilt.
I think I might gift it.

Wallet Wild

I've been making progress on my deadline.... but the past few days I have been distracted by these wallets!
My friend Julie taught me how to make them... and I just couldn't stop!  They are so fun and easy and a great way to use up scraps!  I've got tons of scraps!!

They really are great to hold some money an ID and a debit card or two.  I really love them!
I think you can tell that I love them... since I've made 20 of them!  Everyone gets wallets for Christmas!!  It will be the year of the wallet, which came two years after the year of the placemat!  Man I need to learn moderation....

just to update you..... of my 6 projects I want to finish before the end of the year, I have finished two, and two just need the binding hand sewn.... I've got this!!

Buck up Buttercup

I finished my buttercup dresden quilt last night.  I am so happy with this baby.

I really struggled with what background color to choose.  It took me weeks to commit.  I can say now that I am beyond pleased with the Kona Stone I picked.  I think its very beautiful!

I think this quilt is just so dainty.  Especially compared to some of the bright fabrics I usually lean towards.
I still have several dresdens left so I think I will make a wall hanging   It will be very pretty in my living-room come spring!

By the way, the title of this post is one of my favorite sayings ever!  Considering I had a root canal today its a saying that has been running through my head a lot lately!

Big and Bright

A finish!
I started this quilt last May or June.  We were waiting to close on our house, and my husband was gone for six weeks.... I was tense and I needed a distraction!  This project was perfect.  The blocks were simple and colorful and it just made me happy to be making this quilt.  Then we moved and it was put aside....
The pattern was a free pattern that CluckCluckSew posted. I just love it.  It's busy. No solid white to speak of.   That is definitely not my normal route.
I used the Treasures and Tidbits fat quarters I had bought to make a different pattern.  I'm not sure why I didn't end up doing the Off the Rail, but I'm happy with these fabrics in this pattern, for sure!

I think this quilt will make a very nice picnic quilt.  Don't you?  We didn't have a picnic quilt... that seemed like a real shame.  Now I am very much looking forward to taking this big and bright quilt to the park and having lunch by the river.....next spring of course.

Until spring I'm sure this quilt will see a lot of snuggling and fort use.
I hand closed the binding on this one.  I'm not sure why since I do like machine closed bindings now.  As far as my deadline goes I would have had this baby done days ago.... but I still love the hand sewing of a quilt binding.   I think I always will.
