Sewing Other Things

I haven't been finishing things, but I have lots going on in different stages.

I have started my April Showers quilt cutting.  I am using the Fireworks pattern.

I made a snowflake block recently.
I plan to finish it up soon and will use it on my dining table next January.

The I-spy I have been working on is quilted, and the binding is ready to be sewn closed.  I am waiting for my neighbor to finish the binding on her first quilt, because she borrowed my green thread.

I made these paper pieced roses yesterday.
It is a mini quilt that will be a bingo prize for my virtual quilt group.

I want to get these things finished up before we leave for Hawaii next week.
Well, maybe not the entire April Showers quilt, but perhaps the cutting is a good goal.

Cotton Blossoms

This past weekend I was able to finish my Cotton Blossoms quilt.
I went a little wild on the quilting, just kind of making it up as I went.... I think it is alright.

I found a suitable backing in the bargain room at my local quilt shop.
I think it was a Sandy Gervais print.

I'm happy to have another older line I was missing now part of my Bonnie and Camille quilt collection!

After finishing the cotton blossoms quilt I got to work on the I-spy quilt I wanted to make.
I need to find a backing.

Hearts

I finished my hearts quilt this past week!
It snowed the next night so I waited to take photos of it in the snow.

Since this Bonnie and Camille line is from long ago I used a Handmade print for the backing, and a Miss Kate print for the binding.  I did a tight stippling quilting on the hearts and back and forth free motion on the background sections.  I love that this pattern came from a layer cake, yet it is quite large!

It has been getting lot of love on the couch from humans and pets.

This is my third finish of the year.

Extra Sewing Time

This weekend gave me lots of time to make progress!
The Monster had a hockey game on Saturday morning, then right after lunch the Hubs and Monster headed east to a hockey tournament in the middle of the state.

I stayed home with the animals.

I finished the I-spy for my nephew Will.
My second finish of the year.

This quilt turned out nicer than I had expected.

I love that I picked a border and backing that isn't too juvenile.

After I finished Will's quilt I started on my Cotton Blossoms speedwell quilt.
I had run to get background and backing fabric earlier on Saturday.
I had a new audio book downloaded and got to work!

I had all of the blocks sewn before I went to bed on Saturday, and on Sunday I got the top assembled.
When my guys returned home I had just an hour left of my 13+ hour audio book.

The boys filled me in on all of the mite hockey, hotel pool, and cable TV excitement.

We watched the super bowl and I got a good amount done on the binding of my hearts quilt.
I think one more evening of tv stitching and it will be done!

Another exciting part of my weekend was receiving this beautiful swoon mini quilt from my dear friend Kristen.  She sent a lovely note and it couldn't have been more of a surprise!
Also, please check out the perfect points and beautiful quilting... I taught her to quilt you know!

It was a wonderful weekend.
A nice way to recharge and get a lot accomplished!

Sewing Time

I've been making time to sew recently.
I have been hand stitching the binding on my hearts quilt.
While I do that in the evenings when we watch television, during the day I have been working on an I-spy for my nephew.

I have the top made, and finally get out to go shopping for a border and backing today.
Hopefully I can get it quilted this weekend.

The kitten Olive has been distracting me lately.

And I played around with the scraps from my heart quilt for a little while.
I couldn't decide between this option...

..or this one.

So I set them aside for now.

I've been collecting Fat Quarter Bundles, charm packs, and mini charms of Bonnie and Camille lines.  So far I've found nine FQ bundles, my best finds being Vintage Modern and Happy Go Lucky.
I have 11 charm packs, my big score being Ruby.
And I have a bunch of mini charms, including a Ruby and Happy Go Lucky!
I have no plans for these.  I just want to collect/hoard them for a bit.
Then I want to make lot of quilts mixing the lines.
