A New Quilt

My fantastic sewing group is going to do a summer quilt along beginning in mid June.....

I have my fabrics all ready to go, but I've been pondering what will keep me occupied for the next six weeks!

So I pulled out one of the last remaining one day projects I have in my stash.  I bought this hunk of pink Kona years ago with plans to make a solid two tone quilt.  I decided to go with the Retro pattern in Camille Roskelley's Simply Retro book. I had a fun aqua hunk for the accent block in my stash too.

I made a run to HoLo for the Kona white and got the quilt top cut out!
I'll be on the lookout for a backing, I may run to Hancock to take advantage of their closeout prices.

My goal is to get this quilt done before the summer quilt along begins.
I'll keep you posted!

Since I finished my second quarter goals so early I thought I might just make a formal list for the summer.  Before school starts I'd like to make these six quilts.

1.  Pink Retro
2.  Summer Fresh QA
3.  Avalon Summerville
4.  Patriotic Swell
5.  Low Volume
6.  Vintage Sheet Triangle

If I get these six accomplished this summer I will be VERY pleased.

Summerville

I put the final stitches in my Summerville last night.

I think I could seriously get used to using a wide backing fabric.
So nice to skip a step!

With this quilt getting finished that means I have met my second quarter goals!
My three quilts on my goal list are completed with time to spare!
I need to start thinking about my third quarter goals!

Mini Succulent

My latest mini has arrived at it's new home so I can share!

Remember when I used to make big quilts?
Me either.

I saw something similar to this on IG and LOVED it.
I decided to make all of the dresden blades green though so it would look like a cactus or a succulent.

I did a small quilting grid before I attached the plant.  I love it.
I don't often have enough patience for quilting like this, but I love it when I do!

And this plant!
I love it so!

I already miss this mini quilt!
I'll have to make another someday!

Mini Mexican Houses

My latest mini has been received so now I can share!

My friend Erica likes batiks.  For a long time she pretty much only sewed with batiks.
We humored her batik love when we made her the hiking quilt last year to celebrate her completing the Appalachian Trail.

When I was thinking of making her a mini I knew I would pick batiks.
I found a Los Cabos Batiks charm pack at my LQS.
I also picked out the Mini Dwell pattern.

I loved making these little houses.
Mixing up the colors was super fun!

I hope she loves this mini as much as I do!

I quilted in the sashing and borders with a free motion zig-zag.  I left the houses alone.

I picked a bright green batik for the backing and once again worked on wrapping the backing around for the binding.  I need more practice, but this was better than last time.  The corners are still tricky for me. I will master this!
