Block Three

Success!

It is probably going to take weeks to work the kinks out of my single parenting routine, but yesterday I managed to make my third Snapshot quilt block.  

They are pretty cute eh?

Patchwork

I haven't been doing much lately besides squeezing in the occasional ten minutes patchwork here and there.  It's effective though.

I have a finished top now.  I just went shopping to pick up the backing the other day.  Maybe I will baste it soon.

This is blurry, but I did get caught up on my Calendar BOM.

My goal for the weekend is to hopefully get my March block done for the Snapshots Quilt Along.  

I realized the 15th had passed me by on the 25th, and now I am anxious to get it sewn up.  

I'm hopeful.

Miss Kate Stars

 I worked on my Miss Kate quilt yesterday for a bit here and there.

I got them all sewn together.  

Now I need to add the borders. 

Finished Twin

I have finally finished Nate's new twin quilt.  

It looks nice on his bed, and he was really excited to crawl into bed last night.

The backing was worth the wait!

I quilted it simple, in the ditch.  I love it so much. 

I had no idea when I picked this double four-patch pattern that I would want to have it organized like this, I thought it would be random, but I love how it turned out.

I hope this quilt will keep him warm for many years.  

A Daydream Baby Quilt

This past weekend I decided to get moving on a baby quilt I wanted to make.  The expecting couple live in our neighborhood, and we often exchange dog sitting.  Our dog Anna loves them so much that when we walk by their home she starts crying loudly and pulling towards the door.  And she's strong for such a short thing.  The husband works with Dave.  I knew I was going to make them a quilt for their impending bundle of joy, so I thought I should get going.  

I had two charm packs from my most recent trip to the Bakery Fabrics.  I decided they would make a very pretty baby quilt.  For the backing I challenged myself to find something at HoLo.  I was very happily surprised to find a perfect backing and a very fun orange dot for the binding.  

I spent Saturday afternoon piecing the quilt.  It was quick.

I basted it right away.  The guys went to Monster Jam so I quilted it up that evening and attached the binding.  It's nice to have all afternoon to sew especially for a small project that I can finish up quickly.

I free motion quilted it in a light pink thread.

I just love Kate Spain fabrics.  I might confess to how many quilts I've made from her lines someday. 

This backing IS perfect! 

I hope their little girl will love it up and use it up.  

Fabric

My fabric.com order arrived today!  I am so excited. Now I have what I need to make FOUR quilt tops!  I'll have to get backings as I go along, but this is a great help and motivator.

I bought 'ash' for the background of my Boathouse quilt, and the binding fabric.  I love the Boathouse stripes and I knew I must have one for the binding.

I bought a rainbow of blue, green, and purple for the Horizons quilt.  I also picked up the binding fabric.

I picked up some pretty tones to coordinate with my Kiss Kiss, along with a border print from the fabric line and the binding.  I love red and aqua!

For my Miss Kate I got two border fabrics and the binding.  I'm in love with these.

I've been working on my Miss Kate.  I'm glad that I went with the green solid for the border since I realized this line is kinda heavy with the navy.  I love it, but I nearly bought a navy print for the border and I think it would have been too much.  

The guys went to see monster trucks this past weekend so I got some good sewing time in.  I'll share more soon! 

Into the Home Stretch

 The binding has begun!  

Quilting

Friday after lunch, things got hectic.  Lego Club, then Dave's promotion ceremony.  After the ceremony it was dinnertime so we went out to celebrate, and I had a margarita.... I'm not sure if it's just been awhile since I had anything to drink, or if it was in fact very strong, but I was in no shape to do anything but go to bed. 

Saturday I did piece my backing and I basted the quilt. Then I watched a lot of Lifetime movies. (Kept Woman gave me nightmares!)

Sunday I managed to get started with the quilting.  I have nearly all of the long lines completed.  Maybe I will work on it this evening.
