Neighbor's Barn Raising

We hand delivered my final project of 2012 last night to our neighbors.  They have been great neighbors and I'm glad I was able to get this quilt finished in time.
I think I will always love this design.  Its so simple and striking.  I also love that this quilt was almost entirely from stash!  I only had to buy the binding.

This is the seventh and LAST project from my December Deadline!  In less than a month I have finished up five WIPS and two Christmas gifts!  I'm going to take a week or so to clean up my sewing area.... straighten up and purge a bit.  The in January I'm  going to be starting LOTS of NEW stuff!  I ordered a bolt of Kona white from HOLO the other day, it should be in this coming Friday.
Then things will be really fun.

Progress!

I have made some progress on my last December deadline project!  Its a Christmas gift so I only have until the 24th to get it finished!

Good thing I got the top done!

I also pieced the backing today.... even taking care to match up the print!  I never do that!  I basted it this afternoon and am going to get some quilting started tonight!

Since I have recently finished up so many projects I've been thinking of new ideas for the New Year!   I've cleaning up so many WIPS I'm good to go on ALL NEW STUFF!

I took advantage of the Fat Quarter Shop's charm pack sale last week!

My quilt friend Kristen and I also made a trip the The Bakery Fabrics in Belle Fouche last weekend.
I took a few color ideas from design seeds..... this one had me pulling these fabrics.
This one inspired me to pick these... although the dark print doesn't look orange-red as it is in real life.

I have a couple pattern ideas clinking around in my noggin for these.

I also have my grays I'm planning to use finally! A Christmas quilt using this free pattern

Hopefully these will find their way into a cabin quilt. I have a little more collecting to do for this project.

Its exciting to start NEW things.... if I can just get the barn raising done before the 24th!

If I Dig Out

Maybe I will get back to work!  My sewing area is a disaster! This happens sometimes when I change gears.
woof..... I really need to clear this crap out!
Maybe I'll tackle this heap in 2013.... unless you want to... If you come clean up this mess you can have all of it!!

Wish me luck!  I need to get that last quilt done before Christmas!

Baby C Coins

My quick Christmas gift for my newest niece is finished.  I used scraps and stash and made it a super quick project but just sewing and turning it instead of doing a binding.
The scraps are my Oasis leftovers from my king quilt.  I used a flannel backing and skipped a batting layer so its nice and light and still warm.  I hope the sweet little girl that gets this will enjoy dragging it around and cuddling with it.  As you can see its not perfect, but its still lovely.
In my last update I forgot to put the Dresdens on the done list...I cannot believe it.   So here is an updated done pile! Six out of seven people!!!
DONE
Wonky Nine-Patch
Big and Bright
Ruby Bowties
Buttercup Dresdens
Baby C's Coins
Doll Quilt

Deadline update

Eighteen days left until the end of the year.   So far on my six quilt to do list....

I made the doll quilt on my list.  I was watching a cheesy Christmas movie and just started cutting and finished it before the credits rolled.   I hope this little quilt will tuck baby dolls in for years.
FINISHED- *Big and Bright*-*Wonky Nine-Patch*-*Ruby Bowties*-*Doll Quilt*
Still to do- HST barn raising PLUS...
a baby quilt.
I wasn't too excited about adding another project onto this list, but I managed to get the top pieced last night so I think I'll be able to manage.
Its a Christmas gift and needs to be done in time to ship.
Maybe I can get that done tomorrow while the Monster is at preschool.
It just stinks that I went from having five out of six done... to five out of seven.
I still think I can do this!

Ruby Bowties

I finished this pretty quilt yesterday morning.  I was trying to stay calm before I went to have the rest of my root canal done and a crown build up.... So stitching the last of the binding on this quilt helped.
I just love these fabrics.  I love the fabric designers of this Ruby line... and all of their other lines.  Marmalade should arrive in my mailbox this week!
Its nice to have another wip finished!  I really love that I'm getting these pretty quilts finished up.  I think I might just get that fresh start I was hoping for in the new year!  I'll post my progress on my deadline soon. ( I think I said that last time we talked)

A Small Finish...or Four

I made FOUR tote bags last Friday.  I meant to make one.  Then I decided to finish this bag... after that I decided to see if I could get three bags out of the fabric I bought for the one bag... I did, because I bought the fabric on impulse so I overbought.  I can't share photos of the three bags because they are gifts... Dang it they are cute though!  If you follow me in IG you can see them there ;)

However I am here to show off this old UFO.  I started this bag in June I believe... possible May.  I wanted a large tote for the Monster to pack toys in when we went to Michigan to visit for three weeks.... I didn't finish it in time obviously... But I'm sure this bag will find plenty of uses. The Monster saw I was going to take photos and insisted he model the bag for me.  He did a great job.... I think he was taking it seriously.

I seriously love this bag.  Finding cute fabrics that will work for a boy sewing project isn't always easy, but these fabrics are fun.

I'll post about my progress on my deadline projects soon-ish. I have 21 days left!

Wonky Nine-Patch

Finished! I am so happy to get another UFO off my list!
I almost threw this quilt out several times.  It just annoyed me.  I like the fabrics but I couldn't decide on a layout.  Help from quilt friends saved this one from the trash by deciding to put them on point.  Sometimes you just need someone else to weigh in.  I'm happy it is a warm pretty quilt.
I think I might gift it.
