Hometown Square

I just finished this puppy up!  It's a small throw, but should be cozy to cuddle up with.  It is going to the winner of the Juicy Q naming contest.
I used two charm packs, sewed them up into four patches, then sliced them down into off kilter squares.    It was a nice project to throw together for fun.

I added a thin yellow border then a light grey border and I think it really makes this quilt pretty handsome. I decided to free motion quilt this one (which I was a bit rusty at I might add!).

I'm happy this spiffy throw is finished.  Hopefully it serves the sofa at its new home well.

Scattered

I've been a bit scattered lately.  I took a crochet class recently.  I kind of LOVE it.  Now I can be my own dishcloth supplier.

I'm thinking about how I love this fabric, which I bought to recover a thrift store chair I recently picked up for my sewing room.  We are planning to move this summer, and I'm thinking about which color would be perfect for my new sewing room....I like the aqua or the pink or the green......I have time to obsess over it.

I did get the hometown Square quilted.  I just need to get a binding on this baby so he can go to his new home.

I'm just a little stalled out in the other areas of my sewing room.  I think I just need time. With the puppy I find sneaking away a little tougher.  I want to start getting thing going for real!!

Winner Winner Chicken Dinner

Well, between the blog and facebook suggestions I had a tough call.  There were two that I super duper loved, I had to lay awake last night deciding....but the winning name for this quilt is........
Juicy Q submitted by Kristen.

She will be rewarded with this hometown quilt, when I get it finished up.  I'm naming it..

Name a quilt...Win a quilt

I finished this baby up last night.  Its for my sewing room, and made from a charm pack of Just Wing It, which is really cute.  I just can't think of a name for it.  And since I like smart and/or corny names for my quilts, I'm bothered by this quilt going on nameless for the rest of its life.

So.

Since I'm in a predicament, and I have a hope chest FULL of quilts, and a few projects coming up that have no home I thought I would solicit help naming this puppy by giving away another quilt.

It is in the machine being quilted. Its a smallish quilt, but will be a great throw for the sofa.  Its made of Moda, so you know it's soft and fun to touch.  The light blues, grays, yellow and cranberry make it pretty stinkin handsome.

So leave a comment suggesting the name for the first quilt.  I'll pick a winner on Friday, at high noon. (whatever that means.  I'll Google it.(Sometimes I just like to say stuff like that since I live out west)

Okay great!  Thanks for the help!

hodge podge

I have officially quit my farmers wife sampler.  I swear, I love these four blocks but they were almost the death of me.  Thinking of making 116 of them or even one more makes me think about quitting quilting.  Plus I already did a sampler.  Maybe it wasn't the popular one everyone else is doing, but its was still a lot of work.  I did however make a cute mini quilt with my four blocks.  I'm pretty happy with it, and relieved I'm giving myself a pass on the guilt/ i'm a loser thoughts. I like rotary cutting. Maybe one day I'll take a paper piecing class. Maybe
other mini quilts I've been slapping together lately.

I have started a snowball quilt using a few Civil War Reunion charm packs.  Its not my usual style, but sometimes I think maybe I don't have a particular style anyway.  I like a little of everything I think...minus batiks.  Besides this quilt, I just can't feel them.
I've been cutting out Ruby bow-ties still, making burp clothes, dishtowels, thinking about finishing up a lot of stuff.  Like my 30's wonky nine patch quilt.  I need to piece the top, but its a little busy for me, I'm thinking of framing them out in a thin black sashing on point with a 30s green solid at the corners.  Is this bananas?  I could use white, but I think it may wash some of the blocks out.
I'm seriously in love with my Kona card!  I used it last week to make a trip to the holo without bringing quilt tops and fabric swatches with me.  I picked three colors that would work for each project, made a list, and had no problem finding one or more at the store.
Now thinking about my 30s nine patch I'm a thinkin' old green is a bit perfect don't you think?!!  I love this kona card!

The green light

The puppy was snoozing, so I was able to get some fun stuff going!
I bought a Just Wing It charm pack last week, because I had to have it.  I made a wall hanging for my new sewing room.  I'm pretty geeked about this.  And I love having a design wall.  It makes me very happy.
I don't know about you, but there is something about the new year that gives me attention deficit disorder when it comes to quilting.  I think its the new year, and the opportunities that await.  You can forget about the crap you didn't get done last year, and just focus.
My cabinet is bursting with stuff I want get started on.  I want to start a new project every 15 minutes or so.  Its pretty distracting.
I am hoping to get these projects finished up.  I'm feeling pretty good about my WIPs right now...lets see how long it takes until I'm up to my eyeballs again.
