Change of Venue

Lucky duck that I am, my oh so sweet hubs came home after a long six months away, and let me talk him into having my own room to sew!  It must have been the jet-lag or something.  There is hardly anything my husband hates more than moving furniture, I however have some rearranging furniture gene and could be game to switch stuff at any given moment.
My argument.....why have a guest room for a week a year? I could use a sewing room ALL YEAR!  So now visitors will be staying in the monster's room, and the monster's twin bed fit easily in this here sewing room, so things will still work out.

There is a heap of CRAP on the twin bed still needing to be pitched or distributed to an appropriate new place...I spared you the view of this mess though.  But sewing will be soon, I just have to settle in.

Cutting up

I may not have the time to sew right now due to this beast cherub....but I have been able to get a few things done...

Pre-new pooch I had started a new quilt and I have managed to get more of it cut, even if these are the only blocks sewn so far...

I love having a pretty stack that needs to be hacked up!

AND I have been cutting up strips for a string quilt.  I have a big tote that has been waiting, and Im finally putting a dent in it...I have four bags full so far.
I need to figure a better way to store them... probably once I get the tote emptied they will fit in there, but I dont want to go buy anything in the mean time so this will do.

Okay I had better hurry and go find the puppy! Bye!

For the Dogs

The monster and I are busy getting ready for our new addition.  A puppy!  The hubs and I really want the monster to grown up with a dog, and our current pup is getting a wee bit elderly, so we are getting a puppy.
So after shopping for dog beds I was disgusted at the cost!!  So for the price of a plain bed at the big stores, I made a bed and a quilt for the new puppy.  I feel much happier about this.  Plus it was super fun.
The elephant I did not make, and I will admit I shelled out a hefty 8 bucks for it cause it was so darn cute...but the dog bed there only cost me 7 bucks. Seven bucks!! Those eggshell pads covered with the white fluffy stuff costs 20 bucks!!
And I whipped this little quilt together for the pup to snuggle with. I was lazy and didn't put my walking foot on, and its obvious there eh!  Its for a dog, so its fine with me that it has a few puckers!

We sure are excited!  Even our elderly dog starts shaking her butt when I tell her we are getting a puppy. I bet she can't wait!

Baby Q's Quilt

My first finished quilt of the year, and one of my favorite quilts ever.
Baby Qs is due towards the end of March, so I am done with plenty of time, but this is the third quilt for this unborn babe, and definitely not her last.
I love how fun and exciting this quilt is, but its totally neutral.

I hope baby Qs' folks enjoy their bundle of joy, and I hope baby Qs enjoys this quilt.

Easter placemats

I haven't said anything in over a week because I am dying to post about the quilt I finished last  week....but I have to wait for it to arrive at its new home first.  AND IT'S KILLING ME!  I am terrible at keeping secrets.  I actually created a secret group on facebook for myself and the other two quilters making secret quilts so I should show some one.  And now I'm just waiting for USPS to deliver the dang thing so I can finally talk about it.  uggggg
