Workin

I managed to whip up a set of new placemats this week!  They are cheerful and make me happy.  Can you tell that was a fake 'thumbs up' form the monster.  HeHe  Oh well, he really does like them!
And I've been working right along on my patriotic quilt.  I should have pulled out my Farmer's Wife yesterday or today, but I couldn't make myself do it.  Soon though..probably.

Despite Row's Incontinence

I have my fabric washed, dried, and ironed for my HST Barn Raising.  I had to put water in my Rowenta to iron them smooth.

Poor Row leaks.  There is a little NO DRIP printed along the side of her... and its true, cause she just kinda pours water out instead.  I don't put water in unless I have to.

Farmer's Wife Quilt Along

Wahoo for me getting to work today on a few blocks.  Now I'm only 6 weeks behind.  Jeesh...

67 Pine tree

They are not trimmed... and also you should know I AM NOT a perfectionist.  If it isn't going to fall apart, and it isn't completely garbage... than I'm happy. So sorry if you are, and looking at these makes you nuts.  They are my block and I have to live with them, so its cool.

68 Postage Stamp

night and day..I don't want to talk about it

I bought a thingy at Target to hold the Farmer's Wife project... this way I can set it aside and the Monster wont move things and loose things and there won't be any homicide!  YAY!!

Homefront

My home-front project is about to take off...I have been collecting fabrics.   I'm still crunching numbers, but I am happy to have something to start now.  A couple fun girls are going to be making a quilt along with me.  It will make it more exciting!

Artificial Daddy Hugs Quilt

ALWAYS helpful he is!

Made yesterday and finished up today.... snuggily * cozy * daddy's shirts quilt.  I didn't use stabilizer so its soft and a bit stretchy, and feels like dad's old shirts.  The plaid backing is a flannel and I also used a layer of batting so its has some weight to it.  Hopefully snuggling up with this one while Daddy is deployed will make the monster feel a little bit better.  Maybe I'll have to borrow it a few times too :(

plotting....

I picked up a shop hop magazine recently, and it had a shop in Minnesota featured...
I thought well gee, I'll have time on my hands while the hubs is gone...
maybe I'll drag the monster on a road trip to check a quilt shop out....
Then I thought my mother in law is coming to visit....
maybe she would want to go with the monster and I.....
Then I googled Minnesota quilt shops.
It turns our there are about a million bazillion quilt shops in Minnesota.
So I started looking at the map, plotting and planning...
23 shops later...
I have a rough map of our itinerary.
Oh my.
It will be DAYS of quilt shop crawling.
The poor monster.....

Luckily my mother in law is also a fan of Lorna Landvik, so maybe she won't think I'm bonkers if I start mapping cafes along our route to stop for coffee and pie.

Working and Playing

There is something about opening up my sewing stuff after having it away for a few days, that makes me absolutely giddy about getting to work.  I guess its just a fresh start.  So I've been working on the Sea Bass quilt... and enjoying it I might add.

And the monster and I are enjoying as much time with the Hubs as possible.  Not much longer until he sets off for half a year away.  We are trying to stock up on as many fun things as we can.  Tonight it was a bit of racing at the dirt track in Rapid City.  The monster, always a car guy LOVED it.  The parental units did too.

Haley's Hexagons

FINALLY I finished the hexagon quilt I started about a year ago.  Honestly this pattern was a little more than my attention span can handle... but I am happy with it, and I'm glad its DONE!  It was a tenth anniversary gift for the Hub's sister and her hubby.
I have grown comfy with the darkness of this one.  I wasn't sold for awhile there... but now I am pleased.

These are the recipients... the monster's Godparents.
Today was my 28th birthday.  The hub's ordered a cake and surprised me with a cake that looked just like my Lemons and Limes Quilt.

The Bakery Fabrics

Yesterday Tineke and I braved funnel cloud weather and ventured to Belle Fouche so she could show me one of her favorite quilt shops.  The Bakery Fabrics is in a really cool old building downtown and the shop is stocked with good stuff.  Tineke's almost two year old was jumping and shrieking with joy at one particular  stack of fabrics... and really that's what I felt like inside... but is just stood steady like an adult. Because that's what grown ups do...

I picked up some fat quarters and a bit of yardage for a new tote bag.  A couple girls want me to show them how to make a bag, so I thought I must make a new bag as a sample right??!

And I bought this for an apron I decided.  I guess that's my go to excuse when I see some fabric I must get for no particular reason.  But at the store they had a little kids sample apron with a build in towel, and I decided I want to make an apron with a built in towel.  So I shall.

I also picked up 5 yards of bliss flannel for a backing and a hunk for that quilts binding... of course I haven't even started it, so you don't have a clue what I'm blabbering about.  Someday soon......probably.
