I knew I would

totally bang it out! I just mopped the sewing room floor. That room is officially ready!

With one day to spare I might add.

I'm kind of glad I have to do this from time to time, otherwise I don't think the sewing room would ever get swept and mopped!

My husband said I should put a stack of money next to this elephant because it reminds him of the Gieko money in their commercials. Hehe.. I borrowed Mr. Potato Head's eyes :)
I am totally in love with the 40's Fruity Filmstrip quilt at the end of the bed!! Ahhhh

Sampler Blocks

I laid out my blocks after dinner... I snapped this photo. Then I wanted to take a photo from the other side...

So I took this one... and 2 seconds later it looked like this...

uggg... So I set the camera down to start picking them up, and the monster picked up the camera and took these....

Crazy Eh? Pretty awesome photos for a 2 year old that isn't even potty trained....

Sampler Friday

First off, I am so sick of trimming these little tiny corners off these blocks. Really.... really sick of them! This is just from this week. Secondly, I'm finished with the blocks! 42 finished blocks!! Yep I got 12 done today. Have I ever mentioned how I can do anything if I'm listening to Bob Seger?? Well, I can bang any task out in a flash if he is in my ear. This was the case today. On to the blocks....

Snails Trail II

Sampler Thursday

Okay don't be judgemental... I didn't finish any blocks today! I spent the day cutting the blocks out and playing lifeguard to the monster. So... it sounds like a crap day, but I got the 12 blocks cut. I'm still feeling okay though. The hubs said he might have a short day tomorrow, so I should be able to bang out quite a few. And I always have Saturday to finish this freaking thing! But its gotta get done soon. I mean it, if I cant finish the blocks by the end of the weekend I am throwing the whole ding dang thing in the trash! I need a drink, and I generally don't think quilting should drive a person to drink......

Sampler Tuesday

I didn't get my 5 blocks done today :( I had to go grocery shopping this morning instead of quilting while the Hubs was home. This 12-8 shift is throwing a wrench in my quilt week. Well, and I may have spent a decent amount of time on the phone today.... ahem. But I did get 2 blocks done...
Windblown Square
Indiana Puzzle
**I notice blocks with the word 'puzzle' in the name, often have to be taken apart and assembled a second time... I'm starting to think I need to pay more attention... awww pooie...**
But the day wasn't a total wash, I did get 7 more blocks cut out.... This should make tomorrow a bit more productive! My cutting area and my sewing area are one in the same, so I have to plan ahead to cut out a bunch then sew a bunch.
But arranging things in a list is helping. Making it easier to decide what size hunks to cut off my fabrics to yield the most blocks. Its working well.

Sampler-Monday

Nearly a year ago my quilter cousin and I decided to do a sampler using Around the Block by Judy Hopkins. I have had 16 blocks finished for a while, but haven't worked on it in a long time. Wanting to get something really moving this week before I clean up the sewing room for company, I suggested to Erin that we finish these blocks this week. She was game! Yay!! Five a day for me to get my 42 blocks done. Here are today's blocks.....
Jack in the Pulpit
Five Crosses
The H Square Quilt
Connecticut
Cross and Chain

Back to a/c....I mean reality

Thank goodness our a/c is working again! We got home this morning and we were so glad to be in a cool house. Camping was fun but so HOT. We were pleasantly surprised with Bottomless Lakes State Park.(but really its just one lake and a few puddles) Its just east of Roswell, New Mexico, and about 2 hours from home. We didn't see any aliens.... Except for these....

I thought they were cute. Saturday we spent swimming in Lea Lake which was very cool and refreshing. But once it hit 104, we had to head to town to cool off. And I knew there was a quilt shop in Roswell somewhere.... Do you think I found it???

But the lake is something like 90 feet deep so the water is nice and chilly, and they made a nice beach there too. The monster really enjoyed swimming, and we bought him a puddle jumper pfd and he was swimming like a pro with that thing!

The park was really pretty, even if I miss the woods of Michigan when we go to treeless places like this. But it was still pretty.

And you bet your thimble I found that quilt shop! I spotted the Calico Cow downtown while we were escaping the heat of the day. The shop owner was a delightful funny woman.

I picked up 4 1/2 yards....

and 4 patterns.... Yippie!
