Wonky stars

I have the top of my June wall hanging done. I had a tough time deciding on sashing or not, but I want just the stars to stand out. Snapping a pic was a pain, its a bit breezy. Oh well. I think I'll have to run to the HoLo to grab something for the backing tomorrow. Then this thing is going to be stippled.

Tay Tay's Watermelon

FINALLY FINISHED!

I started cutting out this bugger a year ago. I let it sit around partially cut.... went back to it a few time, ended up changing the design a few times, but now it is finally finished.

Its for our niece, who will be 3 in a few months. It measures 44x60. I'm glad its off my list.

I can't wait to mail it on Tuesday. Good riddance to the darn thing. LOL
My June wall hanging is underway.... I think I could become addicted to these :)

Where are the quilts?!

They are all frozen in TDY time. My hubs is on a 3 week deployment right now, so I have quilts on hold while I hold down the fort and keep the tot entertained. I've been busy keeping the house clean and the kid clean and the meals coming and going. And after the kid hits the hay I watch the tube for a little sanity. During the day I squeeze in a few pages of scrapbooking. That's why my table looks like this at the moment. Yeah, its okay though because its creative chaos. There is a difference between this and disaster. ;)

Ive been scrapbooking photos like this.....

And this. I can hardly believe this was my little guy more than 2 years ago... how?!

My shamrock plant is flowering. These pretty white flowers make doing dishes a lot more enjoyable.... Everything in my windowsill is thriving. wahooo
When I venture out to get something at the store or just to wander around to break up the day, it makes me very happy to see these when I pull up in the driveway! VERY HAPPY!
I don't know what these are, but they get prettier ever single day!!!
It keeps me busy to get out and water everything after supper...... These new plants already have me bubbling with excitement.....
Yeah I'm excited!

Bloggers Quilt Festival

Yay the Blogger quilt festival is back!! Go over and check it out! Here is my entry.

This is a quilt that I finished in January. I am really happy with this baby. I get warm fuzzy feeling when I look at it. Adding lots of white to my quilts has been a new trend for me, and I really think it is what makes me LOVE this quilt.

I used this filmstrip tutorial by crazymomquilts. It was a fun simple project. I had these fabrics from a splurge several months before. I believe they are Windham Fabrics, American Retro c. 1945. I quilted It 1/4 inch on each side of each seam, with my walking foot of course, which honestly is my favorite way to quilt.

I named this one, 40's Fruity Filmstrip. It lives in our living room :)

paper-cuts

I started messing around with my Tokyo Trip pages. Trying to figure out where I left off all those years ago. HeHe. These pages are going to be pretty toned down, but its because I seriously have 100 photos that need to be scrapped. Really!

I feel pretty good about this, and it was fun looking back at this trip. I forgot how fun it is to reminisce when you scrapbook.

And I was playing around with my Pagoda Cricut cartridge. FUN STUFF!!

Getting things straightened up!

I mentioned a bit ago that I had ripped apart our storage room to fix that wreck up. And I went on about how it gave me warm and fuzzy feelings to have that taken care of. We have done it again. This is how the craft-room closet looked when we moved in a little more than a year ago.... It has been cluttered up a bit more since then...... especially since I have added a dozen scraps shoe-boxes to the closet.
Well, here is the solution I had in my head for a few weeks. I am so pleased with it! I may end up adding one more shelf to the scrapbook paper area, but I haven't decided.
Here are all of those shoe-boxes full of scraps. The best part about this here set up is that they aren't in a teetering tower anymore. You know when they are all stacked I always need the second to the bottom box. This will make me very happy!
Having my scrapbooking stuff accessible may help me get some stuff done!! My craft paints are out in the open now too! They used to be in a big box on the top shelf. I needed my hubs to get them down for me. Now I have craft paint independence!

Happy Mother's Day

My little guy helped my big guy pick out my Mother's Day gift.... Or so the big guy claims. I would have paid real money to see my husband's face in the store when he saw the price of the Rowenta Iron I have been talking about for months. I could tell he didn't understand that I was talking about a serious iron. So imagine my surprise this morning over waffles to open my very own Rowenta!

I'M SERIOUSLY BEHIND!!!

Did you know I used to be a maniac scrapbooker??? Its true! Having just said that I am thinking whatever I do I go about it in a maniac way... Probably I need therapy for something... Hmmm..... Anyhow, I haven't worked on any scrapbooking since early 2008! (its 2010! everyday I feel more overwhelmed) I have a dozen pages of 2007 mostly assembled, and 4 pages done for my little guy's book. But the boxes of photos are stacking up!
And frighteningly I haven't ordered photos since ahem.... July of 2008 so I'm pretty sure there are like a thousand more that need to be ordered from snap-fish. That's a big throat clearing moment as I sit here typing this.
I've decided, if all of this scrapbooking stuff is going to take all this room in my craft room, space that could be used to hoard more fabric, then ding dang-it, I am going to get with it! My hubbs is going to be away for 3 weeks very soon and I am going to put away the Juki and get out my cricut! My goal is to make a dent in 2007. If I can get that underway I will feel great!
This is where I left off..... Working on the 100+ great photos from our Tokyo trip. This page need a little work still, like all of the Tokyo pages.
And this is where I started on my little man's book.
Less than 2 weeks until the mission begins!! Heaven help me!!

Sanity in a box?

I found some!!!!!!
This post is not about quilting.... its about my life.....

See I would describe base housing as adequate, but definitely not spacious. When you get the keys to checkout a unit you see the storage room attached to the carport and think "Boy this is great!" Then your stuff arrives and you've got every nook and freaking cranny packed with crap!! And that storage room is full of stuff that are 98% buried and you can only access 2% of the stuff. So when you need something from the 98% you end up ripping apart the whole dang thing and it's left a mess because frustration levels are at their peak you see. So yesterday we went and bought 3 storage boxes. One short shed.... see all that stuff that fit in there..... That was part of the 98%
Then we bought a deck box and put all of our fun stuff in there..... These things were also part of the 98%.... Now we can actually play badminton or I can grab the kiddie pool without skinning my knee and sweating and cursing....
We still have one box to put together. Its tall and skinny but perfect for the rakes and weed wacker. But even with the change in our storage room so far I feel way less crazy!! It is really possible to walk in there and access the stuff on the shelves, which means there is a 100% accessibility rate! So the moral of the story is that you really can buy sanity at the store! :)

Just playing...

Ooooooohhhhhhhh weeeeeee! I have been working on these hexagons! I love them! Tonight I laid what I have done so far out just to see, and it made me all giddy inside! There are still have a bunch more to make using the layer cake, but I am feeling good about the size this baby will be. The goal is a large throw.

I have the 1933 Chloe's Closet fabrics that I might tear into soon?! I am going to try to restrain myself and finish this one first, but I really don't need to get this one finished until like September..... so, I'm not so sure how my self control will work.

A New Place to Get a Hit

In the world of quilting and fabrics, I have come to think of cruising quilt blogs as "quilt porn", and when I finally hit checkout on fqs.com I consider it a 'hit' as in, fabric is like my crack. Not that I am a wild woman! Hardly!!! I've never even tried a cigarette, but from what I've seen on Dr.Phil about porn and crack I have concluded, these are my equivalents.

So living in the middle of nowhere, with hobby lobby and walmart fabric being my only local choice, I choose instead to drive HOURS to Lubbock to shop at Rachel's Fine Fabrics. However, I really like Amarillo better. So, I set out today to find a nice quilt shop in Amarillo. It was a successful search! R & R Quilts and More is a fantastic place! Loads of fun prints! The ladies there were SO friendly, I can't wait until I need another fabric 'hit'! Today I picked up some fabrics for another hexagon, since I love this block and the Butterfly Garden will be a gift. I bought moda's 1933 Chloe's Closet. LOVE!!
