Sunday Sneek Peek

I told you I already had my Easter quilt bumping around in my head. Here is a peek at the beginning of it.

I am going to applique' some eggs along the bottom and have one large egg in the corner there. Maybe this week.

I am a quiltmaker

Today the seasonal wall hanging quilt rod went up. It is lovely, and I am already thinking about my Easter quilt.
Yesterday I went to the library. I had the monster in the stroller and was using the folded canopy to hold my book choices. Then today at Lowe's my hubby unfolded the stroller and found a book tucked in the canopy! I apparently am a thief! But I am going to read the book and then take it back. The stolen book is called Around the Quilt Frame and I read a nice quote today.
" I am a quiltmaker, purely and simply put. There is no need to explain that to another quilter.....The astonishing satisfaction that comes from quilting is beyond explanation. "

The WIPs are dwindling this Wednesday!!

After finishing my 40s Fruity Filmstrip last night it feels extra awesome to have finished my Luck of the Irish Chain wall hanging tonight.

Its 100% scraps here folks!! Here is a close up of the applique shamrocks. I used Steam a Seam. And I like it!

I am very proud of the quilting. I think it is interesting and exciting. And the backing turned out okay too!! Its great to have something else finished!

40s Fruity Filmstrip

I started this quilt last year. Using crazymomquits' filmstrip tutorial.

I really love how this quilt turned out. It took me awhile to get it quilted but I am so happy with the quilting.

The backing is super cheery and bright.

I ended up using a pink solid as the binding. Perfect!!

Luck of the Irish Chain

I have wanted to have a seasonal wall hanging in my living room for awhile. So I thought I would jump in and make one for St Patty's. I finished the top today and I have to say I LOVE this quilt. Your eyes are not deceiving you, I did actually do some applique!! And I wasn't cursing while I was working on it so I may not declare my applique hatred just yet. Perhaps it was the steam a seam?! I am pretty proud of it though!
I am going to have to piece the backing so I'm thinking I will have this quilt done in the next week or so. Definitely by March 17th :) I'm working from my stash since I am on a fabric fast!

Country Rose

Well at least I have finally finished something!!

This quilt if for my cousin KT. She is stopping by tomorrow on her way out to a new job in Arizona.

I know the pattern is simple and the quilting is simple, but I really think its pretty.

I am glad I was able to finish it in less than a week. And I am glad I finally finished my first quilt of the year!
It has been very nice the past couple of days, Anna our canine loves laying in the morning sun. She doesn't know we might get some snow on Sunday. Hehe

Because I'm Crafty Like That!

See we live in the middle of nowhere! 100 miles to Amarillo, Texas 100 miles to Lubbock, Texas, even further to Albuquerque, New Mexico. So when someone comes to visit I feel very grateful because they are choosing to spend their time off and travel moneys to come here instead of a tranquil beach or an exciting big city. And there is nothing here to show off other than a walmart and a sad zoo.
This makes me want to make our guest room special and comfortable. I put all sorts of little fun things and treats in there. This is a new treat I am trying. I found the instructions here. I think it is so cute. I can't wait to see what my guest thinks on Saturday!

WIP Wednesday

Almost finished with this Country Rose throw for KT. She will be here on Saturday so I better step it up.

These make me happy. I bought them for myself at the grocery store.
I have started a fabric fast. You may remember I went 33 days once. Well, I have given up buying fabric for Lent. It should force me to use up the LOADS I already own and it should be great for the bank account too!!

Ooops I Did It Again....

I didn't mean to do it. I went in for a few yards of white Kona.... and then this fabric ended up in my cart.... How could I have passed it up?! I mean HOW?? No way! Its mine and I love it, and I want to do something in all browns and blues and tans. So I'm not sorry!!!!

And then this group of fabrics landed in there too.. My cousin KT is moving out west on a great adventure for a new job, and she is going to be stopping through. So I thought I would send her along with a pretty throw to cozy up with that will remind her of all of the people that love her and are cheering her on! The fabrics are from the HoLo and are pretty and country and cozy. I will show off the end result soon. And if your going to notice that thin strip of salvage showing just keep it to yourself! So what if I'm a squeeze it out just barely kind of girl!

Mini Projects to fill in my quilting block...

Get it.... I meant my lack of motivation towards quilting my current WIP, but ya know how quilts are made of blocks... It was a stupid pun, I know. I can't seem to sit and quilt more than 5-10 lines on my filmstrip so it is taking me way longer than quilting usually does for me. Leaving my finished quilts in 2010 at a big ZIP!!

But I did finish a bag the other night. Its a nice size and I really am proud of the way it turned out. I am sending this one to my sister-in-law. I used a magnetic closure and am pretty impressed that I did it right!
The inside is a solid grey with a nice pocket!

I made one just like it to keep for my little guy, the handles just need to be sewed on. I quilted my guy's bag with his initials. Pretty impressive eh?
Now if I could only get filmstrip quilted! Geesh!! I need a swift kick to get my butt in gear! My husband is gone again so my quilting time is limited. But I am keeping my fingers crossed I will finish quilting the filmstrip soon!!
