Doggie Days of Summer

I got the top finished to my Doggie Days of Summer quilt. Its from the second Old Red Barn Quilt along. I brought the backing with me but I don't really want to go buy batting since I have that bolt at home. But I would like to finish it. I'll have to stew on it for a bit. I really enjoyed the zig-zag. But next time I would press my seams open! It was a lot of ironing and those bulky seams make me want to spit.

For our Up North

As far as Michigan directions go..... We are from the 'thumb'. My mom's side of the family has a wonderful cabin/house up in northern Michigan, around the top knuckle of your index finger, if your looking at your hand in the 'mitten' way us Michiganders do.
So my mom requested that someday I make three quilts for the cabin. She said she was hoping for one room to be bear themed, one to be deer, and one fish. So there I was 'just looking' at Joann and I see this Debbie Mumm fabric. How could I not get it? The picture looks washed out but it is a lovely green color.
I am going to use the same pattern as the Old Red Barn Quilt Along, but I am only using 6 fabrics instead of 12. I got the strips cut last night and I am thinking I might have them sewn together before quilting on Monday night. It would be fun to cut the blocks out there. I am hoping to stretch it out into a queen. I'll make the quilt like the original then add a border. See that log cabinish print?! I can't wait!

zig zaggin'

I have been working on the quilt along today. It's a lot of ironing! But I think I LOVE this quilt already. I may pin these sections for some sewing tomorrow. Quilting is tonight, and I am taking the Yuletide Cozy quilt to work on the binding.

I heart quilting!

Polka Dot Pigtails

I finished my niece's quilt this morning. This quilt has been a real clog in my quilt flow. I have been dragging my feet during each step of the process. I quilted a tight squared spiral in each of the red blocks and I started hating it. Usually I enjoy quilting even if its challenging. I think maybe its just because I am so worried I will do all this work and then the red will bleed and ruin it. I prewashed it, and it didn't bleed on to the Color Catcher sheet it was rubbing red off onto my ironing board cover. So I will see. I took pictures of it before I tossed it in the wash just in case. I think I'll be praying while its running in the washer.
I am already done quilting the Yuletide Cozy quilt and will put the binding on today or tomorrow. I love that quilt and have no problem zipping through the work.
