I have all of my squares cut for the quilt along. I am excited to be working from the beginning on this one instead of catching up on week 5 like I did the last time. I liked the way these fabrics look together. Yesterday I may or may not have picked up a mess of red and aqua fabrics...... sooooooo... I might make a second zig zag with that if this one is easy. I love love love the way red and aquas look. I have been anxious to find nice red and aquas... but I found a nice lot of them and couldn't resist. eeeeeeee

Grammie's Garden Globes
ANOTHER FINISH!! I am on a roll. It feels good to get two WIPs off my list. I was worried this snowball lap quilt would be a little too small... but it ended up being a perfect lap size. Go me!!
I went to quilting tonight. I didn't get much done, just cut the sashing out for my leftover coin quilt. But the socializing was great. yay

Packing up the WIPs
We are leaving Thursday morning! I am going to be taking all but 2 of my wips. I am anxiously waiting to pack up my sewing stuff until my sister has her baby! She doesn't know what she is having, and they started inducing her yesterday! I know I don't have time to make her a quilt but I bought some flannel yards and once she has him or her, I will throw together a nice flannel blanket to take. I bought flannel some girl fabric and some boy fabric figuring I'll use it sometime. They are simple two yards of flannel sewn together leaving an opening to turn it out and then close it up around the edge. And I will add another seam inward a couple inches so it looks more finished. My cousin made me one for my little guy and its one of my favorite blankets to use. Its durable like a receiving blanket but bigger and a little thicker. So as soon as I hear, I will throw the blanket together for her baby. THEN I can pack up the sewing stuff.
I have the Dazed and Confused quilt and Grammie's Garden Globes lap quilt that just need the binding shut, I am pretty sure I can get these done in the car on the way to Michigan.
I have three quilts that are sandwiched and need to be quilted, the Polka Dot Pigtails quilt is almost half way quilted.
I have two projects that are partially cut out. The leftovers from the quilt along will become a coin quilt. The other stack is for our niece.
And gulp, the last two are still heaps of washed fabric waiting to be cut up. The manly fabrics are for a quilt for my brother in law. I am going to name it, 'Under Par' The doggie fabrics I am going to use for the zig-zag quilt along. "Doggie Days of Summer" Even though they are still just yardage they have names. I have a strange process eh. LOL
I think its a good thing that I am cutting myself off until these projects are finished. I think I can get loads done while I am in Michigan. I hope so, because I don't enjoy having so many projects at once.

104 degrees out with the beginning of snowballs
It may be hot as heck outside, but snowballs are beginning to take form up in here. I am going to make a small lap quilt for the Hub's grammie, who is currently in a nursing home recovering from a broken foot. I bought some nice fabrics with a birdhouse backing fabric. I think it will suit here really well.
The doggie prints are some fabrics I couldn't pass up a few weeks ago. I am going to use them to make the Old Red Barn Co quilt along's second quilt. A zig-zag. If it turns out well, I think I might make a large zig zag for our bed, someday. I have enough fabric to make a throw or a twin, and then I can add a border.
It was nice to take a break from quilting my nieces quilt, Polka Dot Pigtails. I got the large squares for Grammie's lap quilt cut and some of the little ones. I hate cutting little squares though, and I need 120. But its so small I'm not going to get a bad attitude.

One for the Road

The Juki is running again
It feels fantastic! I started quilting the quilt along quilt today.(That's a mouthful, I need to name the darn thing!) It didn't take too long to make some real progress. I'm thinking I can get it quilted this weekend. I am just going up and down the seams in the ditch. It looks pretty nice on the back. After I get this one quilted and the binding attached (but not the hand sewing part, I'm saving that for our road trip), I have the figgy pudding throw basted and ready to get quilted. I was able to get the two sandwiched during my in laws visit.
Their visit was nice. They haven't been to visit us since July 2002, when I was a 19 year old newlywed. I'd say my cooking, decorating and entertaining styles have changed since then. The Hubbs had to go out of town early Sunday morning and the in-laws left Monday evening after dinner. Everything went well. The hubby came home last night. I missed him.
The guest room took all of 10 minutes to return to its sewing room status. It looks so uncluttered still. I wonder how long it will take to get all junked up.
I think the monster and I will be in Michigan for long visit. The Hubbs has to go overseas and I would rather stay in Michigan for the three weeks than to be here as a single parent for that time. It will give my folks more time to get Grandma and Grandpa time in with the monster. And I will get to go to Monday night quilting with the 'Strip Teasers'. I used to go in high school.... I miss those old broads. I was planning to go to three Monday nights, but now since I am staying through the Hubbs business trip I will be there for SEVEN Mondays. Whahoooo. I hope I have enough projects to work on. eeeee
These are my first two quilts. The Charm Quilt is tied, my very first, sophomore year of high school....
The 1930's nine patch I started right afterwards I seem to remember. But I didn't finish it until Nov 2004. It took me four years..... So what!
